How to get free map updates for my Becker device
This article explains why free map updates are no longer available for Becker/Falk devices and how you can continue updating your device using the Content Manager.
1. Background information
United Navigation GmbH, the company responsible for Becker navigation devices, declared bankruptcy in early 2017.
Because of this, the lifetime map update (LMU) offer ended on 29 March 2018.
We understand that this change may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely apologise for the impact it may have on your experience.
2. Current update options
Although free updates are no longer available, you can still keep your Becker or Falk device up to date.
You can:
- Continue using your device with the Content Manager
- Purchase map updates inside the Content Manager application
- Purchase map updates on the Content Manager website
- Receive up to two new map releases per year
Both the application and the website allow you to browse available packages and complete purchases.
However, the Content Manager application may offer a wider range of update options for some models.
This is because the application can automatically check your device data and confirm compatibility before allowing a purchase.
As a result, some content packages may only appear in the application if your device fully supports them.
3. Important reminder
- Free lifetime map updates (LMU) are no longer supported.
- Paid map packages remain available.
- Updates are typically released twice per year.
- Your device continues to be supported through the Content Manager.
