How to redeem a Pioneer prepaid code for free map updates
Some Pioneer navigation systems include a prepaid code that provides access to free map updates for three years. Before redeeming your code, you must first register your Pioneer navigation system using the Naviextras Toolbox. If you receive an "Invalid code" message when trying to redeem your code on the Pioneer Naviextras website, your navigation system may not yet be registered to your account.
1. Register your Pioneer navigation system
Before redeeming your prepaid code, make sure your Pioneer system has been recognised and registered by the Toolbox.
- Download and install the Naviextras Toolbox from the Pioneer Naviextras website.
- Prepare a USB drive by collecting your navigation system's information using its Synctool function.
- Connect the USB drive containing this information (also called a device fingerprint) to your computer.
- Open the Toolbox and log in to your Naviextras account.
- Wait for the Toolbox to recognise and register your Pioneer navigation system.
Important: Your navigation system must be registered before you can redeem your prepaid code. Creating a Naviextras account on the website alone is not sufficient.
2. Redeem your prepaid code
Once the Toolbox has recognised your Pioneer system:
- Go to Shop > Redeem code.
- Enter the prepaid code provided with your Pioneer system.
- Confirm to redeem the code.
- Once the code has been successfully redeemed, go to Updates.
- Select the available map update and click Install.
- Wait until the Toolbox finishes installing the update on your USB drive.
- Safely remove the USB drive from your computer.
- Reconnect it to your Pioneer system and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the map update.
For more information about the update process, please see the Pioneer Naviextras update guide.
3. If you receive an "Invalid code" message
If you tried redeeming your prepaid code on the Pioneer Naviextras website and received an "Invalid code" message, this does not necessarily mean that your code is incorrect or unusable.
First, make sure that:
- You have connected your Pioneer system to the Toolbox using the USB drive containing its device fingerprint.
- The Toolbox has successfully recognised and registered your navigation system.
- You are logged in to the correct Naviextras account.
- You have entered your prepaid code correctly.
Once your system is registered, try redeeming the code directly in the Toolbox using Shop > Redeem code.
4. How to install future map updates
You only need to redeem your prepaid code once.
After successfully redeeming your code, you do not need to enter it again to access future updates included in your subscription.
To check for new maps:
- Collect your navigation system's information using Synctool, if required.
- Connect the USB drive to your computer.
- Open the Toolbox and log in to your account.
- Go to Updates.
- If a new map update is available under your subscription, select it and click Install.
- Return the USB drive to your Pioneer system and complete the update.
The availability of future updates depends on the validity and conditions of your prepaid map update subscription.
