How to troubleshoot USB recognition in the Naviextras Toolbox
If you have successfully collected your MG navigation system's information on a USB drive, but the Naviextras Toolbox does not recognise it, follow the steps below to check that you are using the correct Toolbox version and provide the information needed for further assistance.
1. Check that you have selected the correct MG model
Before proceeding, make sure you have selected the correct MG model on the official map update website.
- Visit the MG map update website.
- Find and select your MG model.
- Download the Toolbox version recommended for your navigation system.
- Connect your USB drive to your computer and open the Naviextras Toolbox.
- Check whether your navigation system is now recognised.
Important: Different MG navigation systems may require different Toolbox versions. Using the version recommended for your model ensures compatibility with the information collected on your USB drive.
2. Prepare the information for our support team
If the Toolbox still does not recognise your USB drive, our support team can help investigate the issue.
Please collect the following information before contacting us.
Take a screenshot of the error
If the Toolbox displays an error message, take a screenshot showing the message.
This will help us understand what happens when you connect your USB drive.
Create a ZIP file of the synctool folder
The synctool folder on your USB drive contains information that can help us identify your navigation system and check compatibility.
Please create a compressed ZIP file of this folder using the instructions below.
On Windows
- Connect your USB drive to your computer.
- Open File Explorer and locate the synctool folder on the USB drive.
- Right-click the folder.
- Select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
- A ZIP file, usually named synctool.zip, will be created.
- Move the ZIP file to your computer's desktop or another folder on your computer.
On macOS
- Connect your USB drive to your Mac.
- Open Finder and locate the synctool folder.
- Right-click or Control-click the folder.
- Select Compress "synctool".
- A file named synctool.zip will be created.
- Move the ZIP file to your desktop or another folder on your Mac.
Important: Do not delete or modify the original synctool folder on your USB drive. Keep the ZIP file on your computer rather than on the USB drive.
