How to use navigation with Pioneer navigation-ready systems

Some Pioneer multimedia systems are navigation-ready but do not include built-in navigation as standard. These systems require a compatible navigation add-on, which may need to be purchased separately.

1. What is a navigation-ready system?

A navigation-ready Pioneer system supports navigation functionality when connected to a compatible navigation add-on.

The navigation add-on provides the navigation software and map data needed to use the system for route guidance.

These add-ons generally use an SD card containing the navigation software and maps.

Please note: Purchasing a map update alone will not activate navigation on a system that does not already have the required navigation add-on.

2. Compatible Pioneer navigation add-on models

The following Pioneer models are associated with navigation-ready systems:

  • AVIC-F130 / F160
  • AVIC-F250 / F260
  • AVIC-U250 / U260
  • AVIC-F550BT
  • AVIC-F550BT-C
  • AVIC-U280
  • AVIC-F160-2
  • AVIC-F260-2

The availability of these navigation add-ons depends on the model and region. Some older products may no longer be available for purchase.

3. How to check navigation add-on availability

  1. Visit the official Pioneer website.
  2. Search for your Pioneer model using the search bar.
  3. Open the corresponding product page.
  4. Check the product description and compatibility information to see whether a navigation add-on is required.
  5. If you need help finding a compatible add-on or checking its availability, contact an authorised Pioneer dealer.

4. How to update your navigation maps

If your Pioneer system already has a compatible navigation add-on installed, you may be able to update its maps through the Naviextras Toolbox.

Visit the Pioneer Naviextras website to check whether your model is supported.

Important: You must already have the appropriate navigation hardware and original navigation SD card to use map updates. The Toolbox cannot replace a missing navigation add-on.
