Subaru SD card not recognised in system

If your Subaru navigation system does not recognise the SD card after a map update, check whether the card is write-protected and scan it for file system errors.

1. Check the physical write-protection switch

If you are using a full-size SD card or an SD card adapter, check the small slider on the side.

Make sure the slider is not in the Lock position.

2. Check whether the SD card is read-only in Windows

  1. Connect the SD card to your computer.
  2. Open Start > This PC.
  3. Under Devices and drives, open the navigation SD card.
  4. Right-click the main folder and select Properties.
  5. Under Attributes, make sure Read-only is not selected.
  6. If it is selected, clear the checkbox and click Apply.
  7. Select Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files, then click OK.
  8. Click OK again to close the Properties window.

3. Check the SD card for errors

  1. Open Start > This PC.
  2. Right-click the SD card and select Properties.
  3. Open the Tools tab.
  4. Under error checking, select Check.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to scan and repair the SD card if needed.

4. Try the SD card again

Safely remove the SD card from your computer and insert it back into your Subaru navigation system.

If the system still does not recognise the card, click the Contact us button at the top of the page.

Please attach the following files from the SD card in a compressed ZIP file:

  • the license folder
  • the device.nng file
  • a screenshot of your computer screen where the file structure on the SD card is visible

These files will help us check the SD card and identify the issue.
